The challenge
Most money apps ask for a sign-up and keep your data on their servers. The goal was a fast personal-finance app that needs no account, works without a connection, and still covers the whole picture: spending, budgets, savings goals, loans and investments.
Screens
Illustrative screens redrawn from the app's design mockups. Demo data only.
What we built
Everything on the device
Accounts, categories, budgets, goals, loans and transactions live in a local SQLite database. There is no login and no server.
Money handled safely
Amounts are stored as whole minor units, never floating-point numbers, so totals always add up exactly.
Budgets, goals and loans
Monthly and annual budgets, savings goals, and EMI loans with prepayment options.
Reports
A monthly overview with category breakdowns and cash-flow views.
Backup and import
Encrypted backups, plus bulk import and export of transactions through CSV files.
Several languages and app lock
English, Spanish, French, German and Hindi, with a PIN or biometric lock.
Engineering decisions
- A strict layering rule: only the repository layer runs database queries, so screens stay simple and testable.
- Dates are stored as an exact moment plus the time zone, so travelling or changing zones never shifts a transaction to the wrong day.
- The reports screen reuses existing aggregate queries instead of adding new ones.
- Extensive automated tests, including component and screen tests, run before every build.
The result
A complete personal-finance app that keeps users' data on their own phone. It is built and its Play Store release steps are documented; it is not described here as published.
Built by our lead developer as our own product.
