The challenge
Small landlords usually track rent in notebooks and chat messages. They need one simple place to see who has paid, who is late, and to hand over a proper receipt, without paying for a subscription or trusting a server with tenant details.
Screens
Illustrative screens redrawn from the app's design mockups. Demo data only.
What we built
Properties, tenants and charges
Properties with tenants, rent and extra charges such as maintenance, with a history of rent changes.
Payments
Full and part payments, late fees, voiding a payment, and a block against accidental duplicates.
Receipts
PDF receipts with the rent month, tenant unit, logo and signature, ready to share.
Reports and reminders
Monthly reports with a CSV ledger export, and a daily reminder notification.
English and Hindi
The interface can be switched between English and Hindi, with an app lock option.
Local-only by design
No backend. Data stays on the phone, with backup and restore of the database file.
Engineering decisions
- Kotlin Multiplatform with Compose Multiplatform, so the shared logic can reach other platforms later without a rewrite.
- Clean architecture with separate modules for each feature, and dependency injection with Koin.
- Database upgrades are handled by migrations, with a migration test.
- Automated tests cover payments, reports, reminders and the receipt flow.
The result
A focused landlord app that covers the full cycle from tenant to receipt on one device. It is built, with an on-device check of the latest phases still pending, and it is not described here as published.
Built by our lead developer as our own product.
